In a year...

One year.

We have been living in Moscow, Russia for one year.  Familiar, yet foreign.

Looking back, much seems blurry.  Present normalcy blankets the feelings of what once seemed so difficult.  And, current hardships are more complicated, harder to put into bullet points.  They shift and change.  So, goes life.

There is, though, one thought that runs like a banner across the days and months gone by.  It is this: "Lord, YOU have been my dwelling place..." (Psalm 90).  I have come to see, to feel, to be certain that I have the sweetest of havens, no matter what soil lies beneath my feet.  He is my home.

I have not always sought this refuge.  In fact, I have often wandered from it.  Or, ran.

But, I cannot run here.  And, I know it.  He has shown me.  Time and time again.  In various ways.  One of which, I am most grateful for -- with the Book of Ruth.  Through the life of another foreignor and female, I have witnessed His ways.  I have learned of His means.  I have seen the Hand of God move, orchestrating His majestic plans in the midst of the mundane.  I have read of His perfectly laid designs.  I have taken in His power, His goodness, His mercy, His love.
It is breathtaking.

Why would I turn anywhere else?

So, here I am.

Home.

I taught through this precious book over the summer.  If you would like to hear the lessons, you can listen at www.cbcnashville.org/media/?keyword=Ruth
