Prayers

Five months ago.  My husband wrote this.  I found it only recently.

Thatcher -- 10 things to pray for:                                                                                                               January 15, 2012

  • That we would quickly become part of the church.
  • That God would make us stronger as a couple.
  • That our children would be comforted despite the new environment, culture, home, and language.
  • That through this experience, our children would trust Christ.
  • That my faith would be tested and that as a result perseverance would increase.
  • That Vadra would find a friend.
  • That I would love and shepherd my wife according to the gospel.
  • That I would not fall to the lust of the flesh and of the eyes.
  • That we would be given wisdom on how to have a Christ-exalting testimony despite the differences in language and culture.
  • That we would not waste opportunities to share the gospel.
  • That we would keep a proper perspective (an eternal one, with God reigning) during hardship.
  • That we would be humbled and made to rely on the Lord more.
As I sit here, on the other side of the world and on the other side of this experience, I am amazed -- for many reasons.  Not the least of which, is the man who wrote and prayed these words long before we had set foot on Russian snow.

Take the first sentence.  While we may not understand a whole lot, we get grace.  The love of the body of Christ is evident in the welcome and embrace of Russia Bible Church.  They love the Lord, and so do we.  And, someday, in Heaven we will be able to tell each other – perfectly.
Or, go to the end… I have never, in all of my days, felt more dependent upon the Lord than I do here and now.  I am grateful for that, too… maybe most of all.

Still, there is much between those bullet points: works and ways that my words cannot do justice to.  Maybe sometime, later, I will try.
Until then, let me express my gratitude – to you.  For those of you who have prayed for my precious family; thank you.  He has heard.  He hears.  And, He is good and faithful.

We love you, and will see (many of) you very soon.
