Welcome to 114 Leninskiy Prospekt, Apartment 76 in Moscow, Russia!
Before coming in, I want to say a few things. No, surprise there, huh? First, we are very thankful for our new home. The Lord has used Mars Petcare to provide a lovely place for our family to live while we are on assignment here in Moscow. We hope, in turn, to use our house to serve Him and His people here. Second, our house may never be this tidy again. :) You see, we have yet to receive our "stuff"; so, there are no toys to clean up, no excess of clothes/dishes/etc., and very little personal clutter to manage. I am praying that all of that miraculously changes this weekend. But, don't let me keep you in the hallway. Please step inside. :) Take off your shoes (FYI -- It's quite rude to tromp around someone's home with your slush covered boots, dear.). Hang up your coat. And, let me give you a tour.
The Foyer.
From the foyer, we will take the first door to your right. This leads to the...
Master Bedroom. Behind those windows is an enclosed balcony; at the moment, it is not being utilized as much as we had hoped... But, then again, it is -13.
As we make our way out of the Master Bedroom, we see the...
Master Bathroom. Please note those are not "Couple's Toilets"; one is a Bidet (if unsure of what this is, YouTube might have a few helpful videos...), and the other (with closed lid) is an actual toilet.
After that, I think we should wash our hands, don't you?
As you turn to leave, you will see the shower/tub, and...
my washing machine. If you look closely, you can see yellow notes on the shelf -- a.k.a. my cheat sheets.
As you peer straight out the doorway of the Master Bathroom, you see my closet.
If, however, you veer to the right, you enter the Guest Room. For a time, Jane is bunking here in her sleeping bag. Although, we have made the girls sleep seperately to help everyone rest, they repeatedly ask to be in the same room. (I'm thankful for that!) Thus, configurations will soon change.
So, if you come over for a visit, this may be your room!
Leaving the Guest Room, you may notice our bookshelves. They will soon be brimming over with all the books we shipped!
As we walk back to the Foyer, we can pop in the Guest Bathroom...
complete with an old-fashioned, yet somehow modern, pull chain toilet!
The next set of doors lead to our main living area. The room is very large, and includes a television (off to the far right). And, the view from the windows is wonderful -- especially at night!
My Russian Wall. I know, now, you wish you had one too.
Michael says he can give you pointers on how to mimic this style. If interested, e-mail him. He would be happy to hear from you.
Upon returning to the Foyer, we head right into the Kitchen. The Landlord left a few of his things... I will save photos of those until later. :)
Behind the refrigerator and brown shades is another enclosed balcony.
The girls test it out.
(From left, Claire, Jane and Rory.)
Here is the other half of the kitchen. As I type, I sit in the very chair facing the computer. :)
Now, onto the girl's rooms. Guess what? We walk back into the Foyer, and through another set of doors!
Although the girls have a bidet in their bathroom, they have yet to use it. Claire, at least, has confessed that she "is afraid of it." I suspect the others might share her feelings...
For now, this is Rory's room.
The next bedroom, decorated in mirror image style, is where Claire sleeps.
The closets are located outside of the bedrooms; this one houses everything our kids have right now.
We hope you enjoyed the tour! We would LOVE to have you visit, in person, anytime.
Until, then, you can at least Google Map us.
From Russia, with love,
The Thatchers

I love it! Thank you for the pictures! Would love to visit and bring Neil back to his birthplace! Praying for you! The girls look EXACTLY like the Russian little girls from behind! The fur around the coat and the boots and the dresses! Love it! Looks like you are fitting in nicely!
Vadra THANK YOU FOR PICTURES! I love it, and it is just as I imagined it would be, very classy! The girls look adorable, as always! Now you can pray while cleaning the bidet and the toilet...lol
Love you and hope to see it all in person!!!
Hi Vadra,
I'm so happy to get to see where you will be living and to hear a bit about your adventure. Please give Rory a hug for me and tell her we miss her sooo much at Share. I hope to send her a little something from the children soon.
god bless you all,
Dawn Costello
What an amazing apartment! I can so see myself in your guest room. (or one of the closets for that matter!) Definitely has a pre-Soviet era look on the inside. Will pray that your "stuff" arrives soon. - Stephanie
Wonderful to see your Moscow home!
Thanks for posting all the pics! I love the one of the girls looking out the window, all bundled up. Are you all staying warm enough...at least inside? It looks like you have plenty of room for 3 ballerinas to practice their dance.
Sure praying all your stuff arrives soon...are you doing ok without everything?
Sure miss you - praying for you!!
Huge hugs <3
