Gingerbread Girls

For us, December brings much celebration. This past week (Friday, December 12th), Rory and Claire commemorated their 4th and 2nd birthdays, respectively. Even before the big day, though, a gift fell from the skies -- white, fluffy snowflakes.
While the snow kept some guests at home, others ventured out... to our Gingerbread Birthday Bash! Upon arrival, the girls and boys began decorating (or remodeling, if you were a male party goer) gingerbread structures. Here, Rory and Maggie (Spaid) grin behind their lovely gingerbread home -- so colorful and cozy!
Michael helps the boys "restructure" some design elements on their gingerbread train. That is as masculine as I can make it...

Everyone gathers around for a story... The Gingerbread Man... of course.
Michael has truly captivated his audience! Pretty cute!
More skillful decorating...
The "men" need more caulk...I mean icing. :)
Ta-Dah! The gingerbread masterpieces are finished! Note the candy haul on the train; those guys really know how to utilize space and candy.
Next, the kiddos crowd around for a craft: a gingerbread girl/boy ornament (complete with their sweet little faces). Pink bows, sparkly stars, "brilliant gems", and colorful shapes completed the "outfit" of each gingerbread person (i.e., gender neutral term).
Now, it's time for -- Pin the Bowtie on the Gingerbread Girl! Imagine clapping here.
No peeking! Spin around again and again and again ... Even I was a bit dizzy ...
Woo-hoo! Noah wins!
Finally, time for sweets! The menu included cranberry and blueberry muffins, apple slices, chocolate GINGERBREAD squares and hot cocoa with marshmallows. Yum!
Now, let's take a nap. :) And, yes, that is a festive-totally-theme-related gingerbread plate and napkin.
Happy Birthday Girlies!
